This is not just a fun, in-school event for all students to participate in, it's also a FUNdraiser! Our goal is to raise $35,000 (aiming for $100 per student) to provide more support for our staff and teachers next year, and in turn, our students.
The goal of the LFP Move-a-Thon is to empower students to develop their entrepreneurial spirit, raise money for the PTA, all while promoting healthy activity during the school day so every student can participate however they choose!
We encourage students to set their own personal fundraising goal and use creative methods to reach their goal. They could record a video asking for pledges (you can help by emailing or posting on social media), design a flyer to pass out and ask for pledges, build their own fundraising website, etc. What other ideas can the students come up with?
We also suggest using the ASK TEN method. Asking ten family members, friends, and/or neighbors to sponsor them helps break down their goal in small increments that may help get pledges easier. Asking ten people for $10 to raise $100 may help make it feel more attainable. Whatever the number of people they ask is, caregivers have the opportunity to foster the ownership and management of the fundraising.
The more money we raise, the more support the PTA can provide for the staff and teachers, and in turn, our students! We can make a splash one donation at a time!

We need 2 volunteers per class at the event to hand out jelly bands each lap (email your teacher to volunteer).
Volunteer for other roles here and help make this the most fun event of the year!
We also have a number of items that you can help us procure (even loaning for the day of). Please visit our SignupGenius and see how you can help.
Can't volunteer?
You can still join the fun!
Every student participates in the Move-a-Thon during the school day — it’s about fun, fitness, and community! But all families are also welcome to join us and enjoy the DJ, grow your LFP community by meeting other families, or just watch your kid have an absolute blast!
Come to the LFPE Soccer field on Friday, October 17th and please plan for parking, walking to the field, and signing in at the Welcome Table (outside of the soccer field). The Move-a-Thon itself is only 20 or 25 minutes so plan to arrive 10 minutes before your student’s session starts. Session 1 for grades K-2 will begin promptly at 1:50 pm, Session 2 for Grades 3-5 will start at 2:30 pm.

Watch this video and see for yourself!
Students go outside during the school day to move for 20-25 minutes. The activity choices can range from jogging, walking, or dancing – but the challenge is just to keep moving together!
Families are welcome to come, too! We have volunteer needs (see above), but if you can’t commit, all are welcome to stop by and enjoy the event from the sidelines!
We will have a DJ playing fun music and every student and staff is invited to participate in moving however they feel comfortable!
Students will walk/run laps around the track (set up with cones on the soccer fields)
Classroom volunteers will be at the stations holding a sign with each teachers' name on it
As students finish a lap, they can stop at their teacher’s sign and get a jelly band/bracelet!
After they get popsicles and go back to class!
It will be Friday, October 17th during the school day. Grades Kindergarten - 2nd will begin at 1:50 pm and grades 3rd - 5th starting at 2:30 pm.
Start getting pledges today! The class that earns the most gets a spirit day!
STEP 1: REGISTER YOUR STUDENT
Go to bit.ly/moveathonreg25
Click “Sign up” at the top of the page
Scroll down to “Student Registrations” and select the # of students you’re registering
Click “Add to Cart”
Go to your cart and click “Check out now”
On the next screen, enter your student’s information — name, teacher, and fundraising goal. (You can even personalize their fundraising link!)
Have multiple students? Press “Save” after each one, then “Next”
Review your information and click “Submit” (it costs nothing to register!) and your student will have their own fundraising page ready to share!
STEP 2: SET A FUNDRAISING GOAL
Our school-wide goal is $35,000 — about $100 per student. But we ask you to help your child set their own personal goal and talk about what reaching it will mean for our school community.
To help them identify their WHY they want to ask for pledges, chat with them about all the PTA does: hosts events like Bingo Night, Science Discovery Night, Dolphin Dance, etc., helps with school supplies and classroom resources, supports new library books and music instruments, pays for field trips, helps with Camp Orkila, and more! Or maybe it’s just that they REALLY want that spirit day!
STEP 3: GET CREATIVE ASKING FOR PLEDGES
Encourage your student to use their imagination with how they ask family, friends, and neighbors for pledges! Here are some fun ways to make it their own:
Make a video asking for pledges and share it with family or post it to social media (with adult help)
Ask face-to-face (with adult supervision) — it’s often the most powerful way to connect!
Or invent a new way! How creative can your student get?
Design a flyer or poster to hand out to neighbors or friends
Don’t forget: Remind donors about your student’s personal fundraising goal AND that their pledges will go directly to support PTA programs for students, teachers, and families.
STEP 4: USE THE “ASK TEN” METHOD
Break your student’s goal into small, easy steps! Ask ten family members, friends, or neighbors to each give $10. That’s $100 raised — just like that! Every pledge helps, no matter the amount. You can track pledges and celebrate progress along the way on the Givebacks Move-a-Thon fundraiser page bit.ly/25moveathon
