Artsonia

Artsonia is an online student art gallery. When LFP students complete artwork with a volunteer Art Docent, those projects are photographed and uploaded to Artsonia, where keepsakes can be purchased with an image of your child’s artwork. LFP receives a percentage of the profits from each purchase.

Annual Appeal Campaign

This event runs October through November. This hassle-free appeal is an alternative to traditional fundraising methods (wrapping paper sales, etc.), perfect for families who prefer to give a one-time donation. We rely on the generous donations of our LFP families to generate $5000 through this event each fall.

Auction

The annual LFP PTA auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It is a fun night out for parents, teachers and the community that includes dinner, drinks and silent & live auctions. Auction items range from big to small including priceless items such as Principal for the Day, Chief of Police for the Day and one-of-a-kind artwork created by LFP students.

Dine-out Nights

LFP PTA partners with local restaurants who generously donate a portion of an evening’s pre-tax proceeds back to the school! Be on the look out in the Dolphin Blast for “Dine-out Nights” so you and your family can enjoy a meal out while giving back to LFP.

Holiday Bazaar

This community-building event takes place in December and is fast becoming a favorite tradition at LFP.  Come shop local vendors or sell your own wares.  It’s a great way to get to know your community and a head start on your holiday shopping.

Rebates

Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the LFP PTA. There is no additional cost to you! AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know – same products, same prices, same service.

Receipts from Thriftway that are turned into the office are collected and turned into Thriftway for a 1% donation to the PTA on receipt subtotals.

Art Docent

To support arts education at LFP, the PTA sponsors the volunteer-run Art Docent program. Volunteers from the school teach art lessons about a particular artist and/or elements of art, and guide the students in creating a work of art in that style. Volunteers are not required to have had experience as an art teacher. Training and lesson plans are provided.

Natural Leaders

We are community leaders who work as a team with family advocates, family support centers, early childhood education programs and school staff to build relationships with families. We listen to ideas of how to help children be successful in school and bring families and schools together to plan and implement YOUR ideas. We specifically support English Language Learning families.

Reflections

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition.  Students use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. The six art areas are: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video and Choreography/Dance. Information about the competition will come home in the fall.

Save at School

Students get the opportunity to open a savings account with WA Federal and make deposits weekly, right here at school. It only takes a minimum deposit of $5.00 and a completed application to establish your student’s savings account. This is an outstanding opportunity for your child to learn about banking and to establish a habit of making savings a part of their regular routine that will last a lifetime.

School Play

Each year, the PTA supports the production of a school play put on by fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Students try out to for parts in the play or as part of the backstage crew. Parent volunteers help with coordination, set design, backstage and a bake sale. The show must go on and thanks to the PTA, it does!

Student Enrichment Classes

The PTA’s School Enrichment committee plans a menu of after-school classes each semester. Types of classes include: science, dance, drama, knitting, sports, various arts and much more! Classes are held three times a year. Registration information is sent out via kid mail and in the Dolphin blast prior to it opening.

Student Science Fair

The Student Science Fair is held each year in the spring, and all students are invited to participate by entering a science project using scientific method. Each student is invited to display their science board and explain their project/experiment at this event.

Back to School BBQ

Let’s celebrate the beginning of the new school year! Hot dogs, fruit, chips and drinks will be provided. Free games and fun for the kids. No need to RSVP – everything is free, just show up.

Bike Rodeo

The Bike Rodeo is a fun event for kids to learn bike safety, get fitted for a helmet and test their skills on an obstacle course. Often the LFP Police Department and Fire Department are on hand to provide guidance and answer questions, and other activities are also included to make this a fun, family event.

Bingo Night

Come join the fun at this great annual event! Play BINGO for free – and kids get prizes for free! Usually at this event pizza and popcorn is sold as a fundraiser for sixth grade camp – so you can have dinner too!

Dolphin Dance

An LFP favorite, once a year the PTA has a school dance with a DJ who plays all the popular tunes. All LFP family members are invited to this fun, free event. If you so desire, glow sticks, lights and other fun stuff are available for purchase. It is usually held in the winter – watch the calendar for this year’s date.

Ice Cream Social & Art Walk

Celebrate art at LFP. This annual event showcases art projects the students have done during the year through the PTA’s Art Docent program. Enjoy a sweet treat while looking for your child’s art. This event is part of the school’s Open House and is usually held at the end of May.

Kindergarten Playdates

The PTA coordinates two Kindergarten play dates before the start of school to help new students and their parents or caregivers get to know others at the school. In addition, the PTA hosts an all-school playdate the second Saturday of each month from 10a – noon during the school year.

Movie Night

The PTA sponsors several free movie nights during the year. Bring a blanket or sleeping bag and get cozy on the gym floor for a great kid-friendly film. Beverages and snacks will be available for a fee.

Skate Parties

The PTA hosts two skate parties each year at the Lynnwood Bowl and Skate. Regular skate charges apply. There will be separate events for grades K-2 and 3-6. The skate parties are generally held in the fall. Keep and eye out for more information on the calendar.

Science Discovery Night

All family members are welcome to this fun night of science. Hands on activities and displays are provided by local organizations like the University of Washington and the Pacific Science Center. LFP parents and friends of the school are also welcome to put together a science related activity for this event.

Spelling Bee

A fun night to watch members of our Spelling Club compete at our Spelling Bee! The winner moves one step closer to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Swim Party

The annual swim party is a member appreciation event and FREE to all paid members. Join the PTA and come swim with us!

Talent Show

Students are invited to audition for the school talent show in the spring. Those acts chosen will perform at an evening event that all family members and friends are welcome to attend.

First Day of School Helpers

The First Day of School Chair coordinates a group of volunteer helpers for the first two days of school. Helpers ride school buses to assist new students. Helpers are also located at the entrances of the school and in the hallways to direct students on how to find their classrooms.

Lost & Found

When students leave behind coats on the playground, or containers in the lunchroom, they are put in the Lost and Found located in the foyer area at the main entrance to the lunchroom. If your child has lost something at school, please check there. Each quarter, the PTA Lost & Found Chair takes any remaining clothing items to The Works, the Shoreline PTA’s clothing room that provides assistance to families experiencing circumstances that make it difficult to purchase clothing.

Picture Day

The PTA Picture Day Chair coordinates this special day when each student gets their individual and class photo taken.

Safety Coordinator

The PTA Safety Coordinator works with the school nurse to ensure that each classroom safety backpack has the proper supplies.

School Supply Kits

The PTA coordinates a school supply ordering program with SchoolKidz, a national school supply kit company. In the spring, you can submit your order for the next year and save yourself the headache of having to hunt down the right supplies for your child. Supply kits arrive just before school starts and will be waiting for your child in their classroom.

Staff Appreciation

The Staff Appreciation committee plans monthly luncheons and mailbox surprises to show how much we appreciate all of the LFP staff. All potluck items are donated by our wonderful LFP families! Also, one week during the school year is “Staff Appreciation Week” and each day has a special theme for staff, including the famous “gift card giveaway.”

Watch D.O.G.S.®

The PTA provides financial support for WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) – a K-12 program that invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles or other father figures to volunteer at least one day all day at their child’s/student’s school. Individuals sign up at a kick-off event held in the fall. WatchDOGs monitor the lunch room, assist the janitor, participate in recess and help in the classroom.

Board Meetings

The monthly board meetings are open to anyone. Meet other LFP parents, see how PTA business is conducted and bring your ideas and questions. To accommodate different schedules, the meetings alternate each month between morning and evening timeframes. See the calendar for meeting dates.

Hospitality

The PTA Hospitality Chair makes sure that the PTA office is well stocked with snacks and coffee for when volunteers need a pick-me-up. This chair also coordinates a Welcome Coffee on the first two days of school to help new parents and caregivers get connected to LFP.

Membership Drive

Our goal is to have one PTA member for every student in the school – it’s $14 for one person, or $25 for a couple to join. Members are invited to a free swim party each year. Your membership fees also support the Washington State PTA in their work to advocate to the state government for positive choices for schools. Encourage friends and family members to purchase a membership too. Help us reach our goal of 100% participation.
