FAQ

Please email your questions to PTA Co-Presidents.

There are so many different volunteer opportunities! We have a range of options to fit your skill set and availability. Some parents plan and coordinate PTA events, while others choose to work at them. Many people work from the comfort of the their home managing PTA programs and some help onsite at the school. We’d love to speak with you about how you can help – contact our Volunteer Coordinator to find out more!

A yearly membership is $14 per person or $25 for two memberships. Parents, adult family members, grandparents and neighbors are all encouraged to join. If the cost to join is prohibitive, confidential scholarships for PTA memberships are available. We are proud of how many wonderful events and programs we are able to sponsor thanks to generous donations from parents! After-school enrichment classes, the dolphin dance, movie nights, science fair, talent show and many more are put on by the PTA. Click here to browse the full list of PTA events and programs.

The LFP PTA Board Meetings are held monthly and anyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.  General Membership meetings are every other month in the evenings and open for all members to attend. View the calendar for specific meeting dates. Come see how PTA business is done, bring your ideas and questions, and meet other LFP parents.

2016-17 Goals

The LFP PTA Board of Directors has identified a lead person to address each of these goals, but your energy, ideas and input would be greatly appreciated! Please contact the PTA Co-Presidents if you would like to participate in furthering any one of these goals. Thank you!

  • Increase LFP PTA membership to a minimum of 400 through expanded membership-building strategies.
  • Continue to explore strategies for building a strong family and school engagement component at LFP, including:
    • Supporting the Family Engagement Coordinator with his/her work to effectively welcome, include and engage new and existing LFP families.
    • Working with the POD Liaison Committee Chair and POD Liaisons to further develop and refine the role of POD Liaison, including the exploration of how technology can support increased communication within classrooms and across grade bands.
  • Expand the concept of enrichment at LFP to include:
    • An effort toward more free or low-cost after-school classes and clubs for students through the development of increased partnerships with parents, community volunteers and high school students.
    • Exploring opportunities for parent enrichment, such as classes/gatherings during the school day, in the evenings and/or on the weekends (e.g. walking groups, yoga, art classes, parent education, etc.).
  • Continue to improve communication of our PTA by increasing our social media following, along with exploring strategies for highlighting more personal profiles and perspectives of our PTA.
  • Continue to work with school staff to implement and evaluate defined strategies for creating a positive playground and recess experience for all LFP students.
  • Advocate that the State Legislature fulfill its constitutional obligation to fully fund education in Washington State and comply with the State Supreme Court’s orders in the McCleary case.  Legislation and policies should not divest funding for health and human services, higher education or early learning programs, nor should it simply redistribute existing education funding sources.  Strategies will include informing and educating our school community on the issues and the importance of individual action, along with providing opportunities for collective action to advocate for a fully funded education system.
